The longer I’m in healthcare the more I realize how much I still don’t know. The opportunity of traveling has truly expanded my knowledge and experience as an operating room nurse.
Traveling encourages me to always ask questions, even when I think I know the answer. A wise person knows that there is something to be learned from everyone. I have met many experienced nurses along the way that have been in healthcare for longer than I have been alive who are oozing with information to be absorbed.
The daily routine is never actually routine being a traveler. I have discovered and been able to assimilate into so many different ways of life already in this past year. For example, with my current assignment I have been fortunate enough to learn how to navigate the complex NYC underground mass transit system. I am so appreciative that I have been able to have this experience because of travel nursing.
Always seek knowledge wherever you go. You might find it in the place you least expect.
Here are five ways you can develop your knowledge daily.
1.Read more, watch tv less
2.Set goals, take action
3.Talk about ideas, not people
4.Embrace change, don’t fear it
5.Question everything
Travel is like knowledge. The more you see, the more you know you haven’t seen.
